Queen Rania’s Defiant Call for Change: Human Rights Must Prevail for Gaza

In a compelling demonstration of unwavering support for Palestine, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan has once again amplified her voice on behalf of those suffering in Gaza. Her latest appearance at the 50th Ambrosseti Forum in Italy underscored her resolute commitment to advocating for the people of Palestine amidst ongoing crises.

Queen Rania, renowned for her fearless advocacy, used the prestigious platform to address the escalating conflict and its dire humanitarian implications. In a speech that resonated deeply with her audience, she highlighted the severe toll the conflict has taken on civilians, particularly in Gaza, where daily life is marred by profound suffering.

“Today, we come together in a moment of profound uncertainty,” Queen Rania began, setting a somber tone as she described the escalating despair facing the region. Her words painted a vivid picture of the harsh realities faced by those in Gaza: “Try to imagine what it must be like to be a parent in Gaza,” she urged, reflecting on the stark and painful experiences of families who grapple with starvation, loss, and unfulfilled hopes for peace.

Drawing upon the poignant observations of Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah, Queen Rania made a powerful statement on the global response to the crisis. “The last time millions of people were targeted and trapped based on their identity, the world said, never again,” she quoted, emphasizing the broken promise of “never again” when it comes to safeguarding human rights.

Her speech was a direct challenge to what she perceives as double standards in the international community’s response to the crisis. “It is dehumanizing and cruel,” she declared. “It sends the message that some people are less than.” By calling out these inconsistencies, Queen Rania highlighted the urgent need for a more equitable approach to addressing global conflicts.

Queen Rania’s message was unequivocal: “Autonomy, dignity, and human rights are universal, unconditional, and non-negotiable.” She stressed that true justice requires accountability and a reevaluation of the status quo. “This is a vile breach of decent human conduct,” she said, closing her speech with a forceful demand for systemic change.

The Queen’s powerful address also included a stark acknowledgment that the world cannot return to its previous state. “We cannot go back to the days before this war,” she asserted. “As we ask, ‘What’s next?’, the answer cannot be, ‘More of the same.’”

Through her unyielding advocacy and poignant speech, Queen Rania continues to be a formidable voice in the global conversation about human rights and the need for urgent action in Gaza. Her commitment to raising awareness and challenging the status quo serves as a crucial reminder of the universal principles of dignity and justice that must be upheld.
